Climate change is affecting the health of children born in India with the worst impact.



According to a report published in The Lancet magazine, air pollution, lu and malnutrition will have a bad impact on the health of the children born in India due to rising temperature in changing climate scenario and they will be physically and mentally weak.

Co-author of the report Purnima Prabhakaran said that India is among the countries affected by the health effects of climate change due to its huge population, inequalities in healthcare, high rates of poverty and malnutrition.


Professor Prabhakaran of New Delhi-based Public Health Foundation of India said that the report analyzed the effects of climate change on people of all age groups. But the focus is on children because the issue is urgent and serious.

He said that a major cause of child mortality in India is diarrhea infection which will gradually spread to many areas. The fatal loo of the year 2015 proved fatal for thousands of people.

Prabhakaran said that children are more susceptible to health risks due to changing climate. Their body and immune system are still in a developmental phase, making them more likely to be affected by disease, pollution and environmental pollutants.

The Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change is an annual analysis on 41 key indicators of health and climate change. This annual project is being run in collaboration with 120 experts from 35 institutions including the World Health Organization and the World Bank.
