Uttar Pradesh was last in the education index, Kerala in first place.

The NITI Aayog has started making education quality indices for competition among states on the quality of schooling. The first such index was released on Monday, with Kerala in first place, Rajasthan on second and Karnataka in third. Uttar Pradesh is the last largest state in terms of population in this list of 20 major states. Rajiv Kumar, Vice President of the NITI Aayog, issued this index in the presence of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Commission, Amitabh Kant and Human Resource Development School Education Secretary Reena Ray. Kerala is first, Rajasthan is second and Karnataka is third in the list of all kinds. While Uttar Pradesh is at last.

Reference is made to the School Education Quality Index for the year 2016-17 and the base year 2015-16. Rajiv Kumar says that the release of this index will increase competition among states and inspire them to do better in this area.

Incremental Performance

Haryana was first, Assam was second, Uttar Pradesh third and third in the continuous improvement ranking.

Manipur tops in the smaller states

Manipur tops the entire performance category of small states, while Tripura is second and Goa is third. Meghalaya got first place in the incremental performance rankings. Nagaland and Goa have been in place since then.

Huge shortage of teachers in schools

According to Reena Ray, there are 11.85 lakh schools in the country at present, which is lacking in teachers. In some states, the number of teachers in the urban area is fine, but the work is being carried out by a teacher in remote schools. At some point the teaching work is going on from the teachers who are planning. There are some states, including UP, where a lot of good work has been done.
