The clothes you wear can positively or negatively affect your mental health. Let's know how this happens.

We are all ready for the day in the morning. Changing clothes for the day is something that one does with a lot of thought. But know that whatever you do inadvertently - it is as if your clothes are talking about you without speaking to the outside world.

Fashion is seen as a way of expressing oneself. Many times it connects our identity and sometimes it also affects our mood. The clothes we wear every day show how we look at ourselves and want to show our image to the rest. Even more, it has been found that clothes also affect our knowledge skills.

In 2012, researchers at Northwestern University in the United States found that wearing certain things affects the wearer's thinking and performance. Researchers came to the conclusion that clothing has a symbolic meaning. When we wear clothes with a certain meaning, it also affects our mood. It's called 'enclosed cognition'.

For example, a lab coat is viewed in conjunction with intelligence and scientific thinking. In their research, they found that when a person wears such a lab coat before performing a particular task, these values associated with the coat have a positive effect on the performance of the wearer. Studies have found that the psychological impact of clothing can be measured.

Choosing clothes in the morning can sometimes seem like a big challenge.

"This experiment shows how clothing influences our concentration, efficiency and our thinking about ourselves," explains Cami Abraham, who has a masters degree in Applied Psychology from the London College of Fashion. Obviously, if it had a good effect, it would have a bad effect. About this, Abraham says, "If a particular cloth is seen in association with negative things, it will affect your mental state as well." In this way, 'enclosed cognition' actually works both ways.

On the days when we are not feeling good on the inside, the right clothes can make us feel better and work like an armor. But sometimes in such a state of mind it becomes difficult for people to even think about the right clothes. In this way, some people try to imitate the style of another person but then feel very uncomfortable. Abraham, a journalist writing about fashion, points out that this is due to the relationship between 'cognitive design' and fashion.
