The length of the bridge is 188.4 meters while the width is 7.5 meters. The construction of the bridge had to be removed with 172 houses and 30 buildings. Its construction cost Rs 300 crore. 150 crore was spent by the state government and Rs 150 crore by the Ministry of Railways.
Kolkata: The railway has built a unique overbridge connecting the two parts of the city above its busy train yard at West Bengal's Bardhaman Railway Station, which is hinged with cable. The important thing is that this bridge is constructed during very busy and running traffic. The construction of this bridge, which was constructed in six and a half months (197 days), did not prevent any train or road traffic on that day. This bridge is connected to the Kalna-Katwa GT Road on one side and it has two approach arms on the other. This means that this bridge is made in a modern way.
Make in India
The strongest cable for this bridge has been built in the capital of Jharkhand, using the technology of Ranchi. In Ranchi, a company named Usha Martin has built it under the Make in India project with the help of French company Frescinet.
State-Railway shared project
These challenges were also in building the bridge
The biggest challenge in the construction of this bridge was that the Bardhaman Railway Station, which was to be built on top of the yard, is a fully electrified section of the railway. There was to be a bridge over electric wires. There are 8 platforms and 10 tracks at Bardhaman Station. Due to the capital route, it is very busy.
Nothing came up horizontally
The length of this bridge is 188.4 meters while the normal width is 7.5 meters. Two or two lanes have been set up for both arrivals and departures. A 1.5 meter sidewalk has also been made for pedestrians on both sides. The construction of this overbridge cost Rs 300 crore, of which the West Bengal government spent Rs 150 crore and the remaining Rs 150 crore has been spent by the Railway Ministry.
Examples for the country's construction work
Railways claim that this bridge will be a role model in the construction of fast stations in the busy stations of the railway and its surrounding traffic control. "Prime Minister Modi directs that the plans should be completed with good quality within the stipulated budget and on time." Referring to this, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said that the difficult targets of railway government construction work were 'Will Do, Can. Do's.
